Crabapple Downs Kennels - A
Winter Wonderland! |

About Us and Crabapple Downs Kennels

In England, "downs" are grassy hilltops with a few
trees. Here, in the "Highlands" of northern New
Hampshire, the old
deserted hill farms, their hay fields, and the pastures have
the wild crabapple trees claiming their space. Since I love
things both Irish and British, the name "Crabapple
Downs" seemed to fit quite well for our highlands farm @
1700 feet elevation above sea level!

We started a small boarding kennel for
pets, in 1978, under the Crabapple Downs name. In 1991,
I began raising Standard Poodles and, sixteen years
later, Crabapple Downs is known nationwide for our
wonderful poodle puppies! We continue board and groom
dogs,
and we still raise our wonderful Standard Poodles. On the way in our
driveway, you will see our kennel buildings.

The kennel is quiet and situated well away from
the house and guest lodgings, so don't worry - There
are no barking dog
problems to keep anyone awake at night.
Here's a glimpse at some of our single pens- all
complete with dog doors and
individual chain link runs. |

Want to bring your four-footed friend along on the
vacation? We're able to board, groom, and provide
doggie daycare for
your family pet, should you need that
service (while we know you love to bring your pet along on vacations, trips into Canada, Montreal, etc. might be
easier without your canine friend).

There are two of us who live here - myself, Arlene,
and my assistant, Diana, who lives upstairs in the "big
house" with her three poodles and does all our grooming
and 90% of the kennel cleaning. I raise the poodle
babies, make the right placements for them, and take
care of Country Cousins. I also have three grown
daughters: Laura, Ellen and Emily, their husbands, and
my grandchildren, who live nearby and are helpmates who
are very involved with the family homestead, Crabapple
Downs:

I feel God has blessed me with a beautiful, amazing
place to live, wonderful family and friends, and I would
like to share it all with you, our city cousins.
